The Honorable Nadia Jamil Keilani Social Impact Scholarship
The Arab American Bar Association of San Diego (“AABASD”) proudly announces The Honorable Nadia Jamil Keilani Social Impact Scholarship. This scholarship is named in honor of Judge Nadia Jamil Keilani, the first Arab American immigrant judge appointed to the Superior Court of San Diego County.
This annual scholarship aims to recognize the achievements of a San Diego law student or law school graduate studying for the bar exam, who has helped promote, support, and empower the Arab American community of San Diego through community service and volunteerism. The goal of this scholarship is to inspire and empower future leaders in the Arab American legal community who are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others.

Eligibility Criteria:
1. Be a current member of AABASD as of the date the application is submitted. Click on "Join AABASD" above.
2. Be a law student enrolled at an ABA – or California – accredited law school in San Diego or a graduate of such a school and studying for the bar exam;
3. Demonstrate a track record of building, supporting, and empowering the Arab American community of San Diego; and
4. Have a connection to San Diego either through law school attendance or substantial prior residency.
Selection Criteria:
1. A History of Volunteerism:
- Candidates should have a proven record of working or engaging in volunteer opportunities in public interest law during or prior to their law school journey.
- Non-legal community service, including serving in any volunteer capacity with a non-profit organization, will be considered in lieu of legal non-profit work.
2. Commitment to Promoting the Arab American Community:
A key criterion is the candidate’s dedication to protecting and promoting the advancement of the Arab American community of San Diego. The Arab American community includes all those whose origins are rooted in the modern Arab World.
